What I did in School Today: 4/22/13

Happy Earth Day!

This is only my second post, and already I'm breaking my own rules.  I said I would write about ONE thing I did in school today, and I'm about to write about several.  Oh, well, my toy, my rules!

Somewhere in an alternate universe, Steve Jobs is laughing.  I've been working on two jobs with iPads.  The first was to transfer videos from my PC to an iPad.  Of course, you can't just drag and drop.  That would be too easy.  Next, I tried to iTunes route, but this is not my iPad, and I didn't want to erase everything on it just to make this transfer.  Then, I thought about Dropbox.  This worked fine for my pictures but not videos.  Finally, after a little help from Google, I learned that if you favorite a video in Dropbox, you can then download it to your camera roll.  Success!

I'm also trying to update ALL the new iPads using a Macbook, Configurator, and a sync and charge box. This is less of a hassle but very time consuming.  I expect it to get easier.

The third and last thing is I'm facilitating a Skype session during an assembly between some of our classes and the SCA at another school in our district later this afternoon.  Part of this will be a flash mob, which I'm planning to record on multiple iPads and edit together from various angles.

Despite some frustration today, I have a great job, and I love it!
