What I Did in School Today: 4/29/13
One of my schools (MES) is preparing for Market Day. This is a school-wide project where each class produces and markets something to sell to students in another grade. Classes earn Market Day "money" for exhibiting positive behaviors. This rewards more responsible students by providing them greater spending power. As part of this project, each class will create a commercial for their product. In the past, this has been done using a video camera and movie editing software. I thought an easier, more efficient way to create, edit, and share these commercials would be using iMovie on our new iPads.
So this afternoon, I have offered an optional training on making a movie using iMovie on the iPad. It will be hands-on. Each participant will receive a list of tasks and a how-to packet. I'll use an "I do, you do, I do, you..." format. My goal is that each teacher will leave being able to do the following.
- Add in-app video
- Add existing video
- Add in-app still pictures
- Add existing still pictures
- Add background music, sound effects, and audio recordings
- Edit video, still picture, and audio
- Change transitions
- Share online
